Master Carver

Growing up in Ladner British Columbia, Jody had two passions in life. Carving and cars. Not only is ha a master carver of Northwest coast Salish first Nations art, he also has a passion for hot rods, race cars  and muscle cars. 
In the forests of the west coast of British Columbia stand the mighty Yellow Cedar that has been the traditional wood used for carving by the Coast Salish artists. For centuries Yellow Cedar has been carved to reveal the secrets of the Spirits and animals of the west coast of British Columbia.

Over the past several years Jody has brought his traditional artistic talents to students at several schools in Greater Vancouver Regional district. Teaching the techniques, meanings, and stories of the the traditional First Nations peoples in the carvings he creates.
